Cathy Brooks
Director, Business Development, Seesmic

Cathy has spent more than two decades working in and around media and communications. It began in 1982 with a job ripping wire copy and went on to encompass reporting, writing, editing, broadcast management, as well as media training and strategy development.

Cathy’s currently leading the charge on business development for Seesmic, the fifth company of French entrepreneur Loic Le Meur. Started in September 2007, Seesmic is a platform that enables threaded conversations online using video as the conduit.

Prior to Seesmic, Cathy worked with Guidewire Group – a global analyst firm focused wholly on emerging markets and technologies. During that time, Cathy produced and hosted “I of Innovation” a weekly talk show providing a unique perspective an insight to the processes and people behind the latest technology trends. She also produced two of the firm’s conferences – Innovate!Europe and Leadership Forum. In both cases Cathy was responsible for identifying and booking top speakers as well as moderating and emceeing the events.

Cathy also worked at TechTV, running the network’s talent and guest booking departments, and has held several executive positions with PR agencies ranging from business development to account management.

She currently lives in San Francisco, CA.
